Law of Attraction - The Secret Law of Attraction

The Secret Law of Attraction has taken the world by storm

We’ve all seen the vast amount of exposure the movie the Secret has received - appearing on Oprah, Larry King and Ellen Degeneres to name but a few. The Secret Law of Attraction bandwagon seems to show no signs of slowing up. The Secret 2 will no doubt showcase again this Secret Law of Attraction amidst much euphoria.

When reviewing the amazing levels of publicity the Secret has received I found an article that shows the appearances of Rhonda Byrne, Michael Beckwith, James Arthur Ray, Lisa Nichols and Jack Canfield on Oprah - it’s pretty much the most comprehensive library of videos of all the exposure I have seen.

Trader Mike’s Post on The Secret Law of Attraction

(I must be crazy talking about Oprah to my 90% male readership…) I think the movie The Secret is about to hit its tipping point. On Thursday Oprah Winfrey’s show will be all about that movie — or more specifically the topic of the movie which is the law of attraction. That law basically states that “whatever you focus on you get more of.” I saw the movie back in August after seeing a mention on another trader’s blog. What was most interesting about it is that it was nothing new. The movie crystallized concepts that I’ve read and heard about over the years.

One thing that really stood out to me was that focusing on a negative doesn’t work. A good example of that is when you see a football team with a big lead go into the dreaded “prevent defense“. Instead of continuing to play to win they start playing not to lose. We all know what typically happens next — the team blows the game. I’ve had similar experiences with trading. I always seem to get into trouble when I try to trade not to lose (scared money…). That causes me to adjust my stops just enough so that they get hit right before the stock reverses. Even though I realized that fact long before watching The Secret (hence my long-standing rule of not touching stops within an hour of setting them) I never thought of it in terms of attracting those stop outs because of my mindset.

Anyway, there are tons of applications of the law of attraction in all facets of life. I highly recommend watching the movie and/or the Oprah show on Thursday. Here’s some stuff to give you a better idea of what to expect:
